We built The Pillars of Plainfield Bed and Breakfast Inn in 13 years, from a derelict mansion into one of the "Top 10" bed and breakfasts in New Jersey. In 2005, we sold The Pillars so that we can do some traveling and pursue other interests. However, we miss the opportunity to provide hospitality, and welcome a chance to offer our services to your guests.

 

Chuck is a retired Presbyterian minister and also a trained Interim Ministry Specialist - so transitional situations are "routine" challenges for him. At The Pillars, Chuck did most of the computer data entry and marketing, the cooking and building and grounds maintenance. Aside from taking care of guests, his first love is baking.

 

Tom is visually impaired, but ran a coffee shop for the Division of the Blind in Indiana for 16 years. At The Pillars, Tom supervised the cleaning staff and did most of the laundry. Though "legally blind" he can see to read the newspaper and perform normal household duties apart from cleaning. Tom has an unusually warm and friendly way of relating to guests.

 

Though we are new at Interim Innkeeping, we believe the experience we had in running a first class establishment can be translated into providing dependable, quality hospitality services, including taking a personal interest in the guests, cooking meals, supervision of staff, using property management software (we like Guest Tracker but are willing to learn other systems) and in general doing all the things that a reputable innkeeper will do.

We had a dog at our inn and welcome guest's pets. We are happy to take care of your dog, but we are seriously allergic to cats and cannot share a house with them - or stay at an inn that has a cat in residence!
